Challenge
“Power supply in Africa”, there is no standard instruction manual for delivering emergency power in Africa. This has multiple challenges; the climate, environmental conditions, and the existing grid supply make each project a unique challenge. Where a UPS in Europe is mainly used as a backup during power outages, a UPS in Africa serves primarily as a stabilizer for incoming grid power. This is an essential component due to the unstable power grid in a country like Liberia.
The Solution
Elinex, in collaboration with Oldelft Benelux B.V., delivered an emergency power solution at the Jahmale Med’s Solutions Diagnostic Center in Liberia, Africa. The establishment of this diagnostic center is under the supervision of Oldelft Benelux, who is engaged as the project leader and is responsible for overseeing the entire project. The know-how and experience of Oldelft Benelux are indispensable, and they have been involved since the construction of this hospital. For the emergency power supply for this diagnostic center, Oldelft Benelux asked their emergency power partner Elinex to design and supply the UPS system.
Elinex carried out the electrical installation and commissioning of the UPS. This UPS is applied as a central UPS, which can be used for multiple medical applications such as MRI and CT scanners, mammography, and ultrasound equipment. The Huawei 250 kVA UPS feeds multiple sub-distributors and is equipped with a battery setup suitable for 10 minutes of autonomy time for all critical applications.
